Year 5

Our curriculum theme for the whole school this term is ‘Buildings.’ In Summer 1 our focus city is Hackney, London. In summer 2 our focus city will be Tokyo, Japan.

During Summer 1 our focus will be buildings in Hackney as Year 5 have the fantastic opportunity to take part in Heritage Hackney local history project. During the month of May, we will visit for significant buildings in Hackney to learn about them and their presence in Hackney.

This term we will use the Hackney Agreed Syllabus and our own school designed unit to investigate:

  • The significance of religious buildings or places of worship. We will visit at least one place of worship to explore internal and external features.
  • Christian values in the world today

Our class novel is ‘The London Eye Mystery’ by Siobhan Dowd Hawking, which we will use to support our learning in class and at home.

Pleas find an overview of what the children have been learning over the school year.
